One of the noise box synths I build is an “Optical Theremin”. This means that the frequency of the note is altered according to how much light falls on the sensors. Having seen a Tom Bugs performance using these I decided to do Steve Reich’s Pendulum Music, for Optical Theremin and torch…rather than the standard speaker and microphone set up.
I have performed this piece a number of times in public. The best recording I am aware of is this, filmed by Antonio. Enjoy.
