The project that emerged from my BOOM year, saw the replacement of the PA speakers my band ORE had traditionally used for amplification and effects with two large resonator gongs that process the sound of our brass instruments.

The audio signal from our instruments is amplified and then driven into a point on each gong. The position of the drivers was chosen to offer the best response to the range and tone of each instrument. This creates effects including minimal near-acoustic sound processing, heavy bass, and a sound that is awash with complex metallic shimmering. We adapted our performance accordingly, creating a 40 minute long semi-improvised piece.
