An AMS version of the pneumatic den den daiko is made! Our roto tom is coming together too, as is an adaptation of Sam's Noise Tombola (currently inhabited by another archive item - the feedback hamster)!
This project is interesting because it's modularity (modular-ness) has resulted in a huge sprawl of different avenues and ideas, some more complex than others and some outside our comprehension. We seem to keep coming back to the rhythm section and making video clips which is fun, but the project really comes into its own regarding the more unusual modules such as the mini bellows, air mixer, feedback units, clock tines, magnetic impulsers and latex reed instruments. We will be able to work with more subtle effects of sound with the drone noises and to break apart these trashy step sequenced loops once we can hook up the physical pendulum, bellow and magnetic modules to master drive the orchestra with all their lovely quirks and idiosyncrasies. For now, please enjoy these videos of pitch-bent rhythms and a hamster workout!
